You’re what?!?
After having lived happily in the quaint little town of Franklin, MA for about 4 and a half years now, the Sadecki family has decided to shake it up a bit and move up to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Like salmon, swimming upstream, they have decided to buck the trend and opt for a more urban lifestyle. While they have enjoyed their time in Franklin and will regret not being able to enjoy the rewards of all the renovation work they have done on their home, they have decided, that by eliminating their commute (JP is about 2.5 miles from Nancy’s office and 5.5 for Mark), they will collectively have 25 extra hours per week to spend with Ruby.
NPR did a nice series about “Life in the ‘Burbs: Heavy Costs for Families, Climate” and a “recent trend of moving from the suburbs to the city” to combat effects of suburban sprawl. While we made the decision to do this long before these stories were published, we thought they captured our sentiments exactly.
